Jafo World is the brainchild of Joe Jafo Carriere (Guitars, Lead
Vocals). He is an experienced and accomplished musician who was
born into a musical family that passed down a wealth
of influences to him.
His dream of being a powerful force in the music industry started
at age seven when he began as a performer/actor in the Children's'
Actor Workshop and was later fueled through his enrollment at Chapel
Hill-Chauncey Hall Prep/Drama school. However, his dreams of becoming
a professional actor were put aside after attending his first RUSH
concert. He explains, with pure passion, "I knew the course
of my life was altered that night at the Worcester Centrum; it all
just clicked -- the pure joy and excitement, the music, the video
screen, the massive light show -- it was mesmerizing! I knew my
journey had begun."
All
the elements were finally put into place when Joe enlisted seasoned
pro and longtime friend Jamie Paul Fuller (bass, keys), forming
a group of crunching, powerful, melodic sound that has been compared
to Filter, Creed, Godsmack and A Perfect Circle. Jamie is a Prodigy.
He began playing classical piano at the age of 12. He switched to
guitar a few years later and began writing songs. He payed his dues
on the Boston scene playing in his first few bands. A fateful meeting
through a family member of his at a cemetery, he began coming to
Joe's solo band rehearsals and shows. His talent was impressive
the first time Jamie played the keyboard rig in the rehearsal studio.
The ideas and plans about what type of music they would create
started taking shape via the internet and Instant messaging. Joe
said that it was honor to have Jamie join the band. "My solo
band had just broken up and then a couple weeks later, I ran into
Jamie at the Dave Navarro concert at the Hatch Shell in Boston,
and we both talked about how influential that concert and his album
'Trust No One' was on us. A few months later Jamie came by and we
started working together." The power of music unites!
Jamie switched to bass for the band. He now contributes song writing
to the band. He and Joe both have studios at their houses and constantly
are working on new material.
Jim Mag is the newest member of Jafo World. He is an accomplished drummer and percussionist that started playing drums in the third grade and has graced the stages in most of the rock clubs and venues from the East Coast of the United States to the sordid underground of Hollywood, California. No one really knows where he came from and we don’t really ask. Jim Mag just showed up at our rehearsal studio one day and blew our minds. He doesn’t talk much and we don’t really care. He is one of the most professional and accomplished musicians that we have ever come in contact with. His energy and focus has added a unique sound and style that has catapulted Jafo World into a whole new realm of musical possibilities.
The band possesses a mysterious and commanding stage presence that
features a rich, lush, and powerful vocal sound. Joe's style is
a fusion of the ethereal qualities of Alex Lifeson (RUSH) and the
hard rocking intensity of Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction). Joe's
intense, driving guitar approach will capture the avid rock fan
and appeal to the masses with his modern, edgy music.
Now, with the release of the Sinners Collective EP, they move
forward with huge momentum, continuing to tour the northeast and
appearing at such national venues as The Middle East Downstairs
(Cambridge, MA), The Paradise (Boston, MA), and CBGB's (NY, NY),
just to name a few. The Sinners Collective CD chronicles some of
the darker side of Joe's experiences in the music industry and his
recent observations of the modern world. The EP is based on a true
den of thieves, a cast of characters that Joe rises above. His cathartic
journey is revealed in detail in his lyrics. The music also observes
some of the ironies of human nature and religion -- the measure
of a man's guilt and sin -- man's questioning of his own conscience.
Joe rises from the ashes of these betrayals and finds inner peace.
So let the world be healed, for music is the healer...
